The Planning and Development Department administers the subdivision, zoning, building code, and nuisance abatement regulations of the city. The Department also ensures proper implementation of all growth management and transportation plans through the development/plan review process. In addition, the department performs code compliance and building inspections. Other responsibilities include:
  • Receiving zoning change and specific use requests
  • Interpreting the Zoning Ordinance
  • Processing and recommending amendments to the Zoning Ordinance
  • Assisting residents and developers in platting and development
  • Issuing building permits and business licenses
  • Directing citizen complaints

Our department has also created a policy and procedures document covering:
  • Plats, plans, permits, and easements
  • Surveys
  • Re plats, lot spills, lot combinations, and lot line adjustments
  • Building permit process for commercial, residential, and public works
  • Land disturbance
  • Stop and yield sign installation and the traffic analysis process

Building and Permit Fees


Building and permit fees for 2013 are as outlined in the Planning and Development Application Fees 2013. They include : Planning and Development Application Fees, Residential permit fees, Miscellaneous permit fees, and Commercial permit fees.

Water and Sewer Connection Fees are determined by ordinance.

    • 5/8 inch meter residential          $100
    • 5/8 inch meter commercial         $200
    • 1 inch meter                           $1000
    • 1 1/2 meter                            $1500
    • 2 inch meter                           $2000

  • Contact the Public Works Department for impact fee greater than 2 inches. The impact fee for development of construction outside the City of Ozark will be two (2) times the rate in the above schedule.
