The City of Ozark Public Works Department has issued a boil water order for addresses on Elmview Drive, View High Drive, Oak Tree Lane, Shady Lane, Black Locust, Oak Tree Circle, and Old Prospect Road. City officials issued the order because of a loss of pressure on November 17th 2013 that affected residential properties of the public water system. A water main break resulted in the water main being shut off in order to repair the leak. When water pressure is low, conditions exist which could allow contamination to enter the distribution system or household plumbing. The boil water order took effect on November 17th, 2013, and will remain in effect until water sample results indicate that no contamination is present. Signs will be placed in the area affected, rescinding the boil order once the water sample results indicate no contamination is present. Follow this link to see a map of the effected area http://ozarkmissouri.com/DocumentCenter/View/1599.
Anyone served by the affected public water system should observe the following precautions:
1.Boil water vigorously for three minutes prior to use. Use only boiled water for drinking, brushing teeth, diluting fruit juices and all other food preparations or consumption. Use of bottled water may be a feasible, though relatively expensive, alternative to boiling tap water when under a boil water order.
2.Do not use ice from a household automatic icemaker or use any ice made with unboiled water from this system. Remake ice cubes with water that has been boiled or buy ice.
3.Disinfect dishes and other food contact surfaces by immersion for at least one minute in tap water that contains one teaspoon of unscented household bleach per gallon of water.
4.LET WATER COOL SUFFICENTLY BEFORE DRINKING.
