About the Citizens Academy

If you are interested in learning more about the Ozark Police Department, the Citizens Academy is a great way to get started.

The Ozark Police Department’s free Citizens Academy meets on Thursdays from 6:00 to 9:00 pm for ten weeks. Seating is limited, and participants are considered on a first-come, first-served basis.

The application period is currently closed.

The 10-week program offers an informative overview of the fundamentals of police operations and the divisions within the Ozark Police Department, suitable for anyone 18 years of age and older. The format includes lecture-style presentations by OPD officers and staff, as well as hands-on experiences.

During the 10 weeks, the class will meet our Command Staff, receive a facility tour, hear from patrol officers, meet our detectives, and engage with other emergency responders who serve in Ozark. The class will visit our firearms range and learn about some of the crimes our community faces, as well as what your police department is doing to address them.
