What to know before you go

Safe Pools Have Rules

The lifeguard or manager on duty may enforce other rules as necessary for the protection and safety of our guests. They may close any portion of the pool for safety or maintenance-related reasons. Also, they may issue a pool time out or may suspend any person from the pool without a refund whose actions jeopardize the safety or enjoyment of others.

Grubaugh Municipal Pool Rules:

  • Children 8 and under must be accompanied by a guardian 16 or older
  • Children 9-12 must have a guardian 16 or older with them in the building and must be able to pass the swim test (Ask the lifeguard for assistance)
  • Only U.S. Coast Guard approved lifejackets and flotation devices may be worn, and a parent or guardian must be in the water within arm's reach (No water wings)
  • Baby boats may be used only if an adult remains within arm’s reach
  • Swim diapers must be worn and are available for purchase
  • Family-friendly swim attire is required
  • No Public Display of Affection
  • No outside food & drink; concession items must be eaten and remain in the concessions area

Slide & Water Feature Rules:

  • No metal objects, snaps, or zippers
  •  Do not stop, stand, kneel, spin, or rotate in the slide at any time 
  •  No lifejackets, goggles, or toys are permitted on the slide
  • Slide users must ride feet first and on their backs
  • One (1) person is allowed down the slide at a time
  • No swimmers are allowed to stay in the catch pool; as soon as a swimmer exits the slide, they must proceed to an exit
  • Slide users must wait until the person before them has exited the catch pool before going down

Diving Board Rules:

  • Only one person on the diving board at a time
  • Only one person on the ladder at a time
  • Do not dive until the person ahead of you has exited the water
  • Only dive or jump straight out from the diving board
  • No gainers, back flips, or inward dives

Deep End Rules:

  • No free swimming
  • This area is ONLY for diving board use
  • Exit the area immediately after using the diving board
  • Do not enter from the side of the pool
  • Do not throw objects in the deep end 
  • No alcohol, tobacco products, glass, or chewing gum
  • No smoking, vaping, or e-cigarettes on the outside deck
  • No running, throwing balls, diving, or horseplay
  • No extended breath holding
  • No profanity or obscene gestures
  • No person with a skin rash or irritation may enter the pool
  • No outside private swim lessons
  • No re-entry allowed without paying for another day's pass
  • No refunds - In the event we close the Aquatics Facility early for inclement weather, or there is more than an hour of consecutive delays, a rain pass will be issued

Inclement Weather Policy & Lighting:

When lightning is present, it will take 30 minutes. Delay for up to one hour. OC Indoor Pool Passes will be given after an hour. Please call 417-581-SWIM when temperatures outside are under 70 degrees; the Grubaugh Municipal Pool may be closed.
