Ozark, Mo. - The Ozark Police Department is proud to announce that it has been officially certified by the State of Missouri through the Animal Care Facilities Act to facilitate adoptions for dogs picked up by the Canine Control Division and placed in the city pound.
Under the new program, when a dog is picked up, it will be held in the city pound for a mandatory seven-day period. If the dog is not claimed by its owner during that time, it becomes eligible for adoption.
Community members interested in giving one of these dogs a forever home will need to contact the Ozark Police Department. The adoption process includes a $75 fee, which covers a mandatory vet visit and any necessary vaccinations. Additionally, a waiver must be signed, agreeing to have the dog spayed or neutered, if it has not already been done. Once an adoption is approved, the department will schedule a day and time for the pet's new owner to pick them up at the police station.
This initiative is a meaningful step toward helping more local dogs find safe, loving homes while giving residents a chance to make a difference in an animal’s life.
